Job summary

Schaefer Plastics in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Process Technician II to independently set up, start, optimize, and troubleshoot high-volume injection molding processes. This experienced technician handles complex changeovers while protecting safety, quality, uptime, and scrap performance.

You will analyze molding conditions, adjust process parameters, mentor Level I technicians, and implement practical improvements to reduce scrap and improve cycle times.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of injection molding Process Technician experience.
• Ability to set molds, start machines, and establish stable processes.
• Experience with robots, cranes, heaters, and material-handling systems.
• Ability to read technical instructions and document troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Set up mold changes, machine startups, and job changes across equipment.
• Analyze molding conditions and adjust process parameters to regain stability.
• Troubleshoot mold heat, thermocouples, water, hydraulics, and robotics.
• Edit and validate machine programs per change-control requirements.
• Coach Level I technicians on safe changeovers and troubleshooting.
• Identify improvements to reduce scrap and shorten changeovers.
• Monitor machines to minimize downtime and scrap.
• Complete first-piece verification and production documentation.
