Job summary

Cooper Standard Automotive seeks an engineering professional to support injection molding manufacturing operations on special projects. You will assist in design, procurement, and maintenance of molding equipment and tooling, with some travel to facilities.

Responsibilities include identifying equipment improvements for cost savings, quality, safety, and ergonomics; troubleshooting mold tooling; supporting production to minimize downtime; and contributing to DFMA with manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with minimum two years related experience in an injection molding manufacturing facility or substantial injection molding experience with proven capabilities.
• Above-average mechanical aptitude and ability to analyze equipment and processes in an industrial environment.
• MS Office proficiency; CAD software experience preferred (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Excellent communication, leadership and supervisory skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue enhancements in molding equipment to improve cost, quality, safety and ergonomics; troubleshoot and implement corrective action; inspect incoming mold tooling/equipment to meet build specifications.
• Support production to resolve issues to minimize downtime.
• Contribute to product design during development to ensure DFM principles and customer requirements are met.
• Support Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
• Assist in validation trials, feasibility studies, and design tests for processes and materials.
• Develop specifications, new tools, processes and training procedures.
• Use problem-solving techniques to determine root causes of downtime and customer issues and develop permanent corrective actions.
• Champion scrap reduction and lean manufacturing within the area of responsibility.
