Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for designing and developing facilities to extend and enhance the IT Infrastructure across telephony, networking, databases, compute, and storage. The candidate should possess top industry certifications in Networking/Telephony, Database, Compute, or Storage domains, with relevant engineering experience. The role serves as the principal engineer, coordinating engineering resources to deliver solutions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Lead multi-disciplinary design teams for solutions and capacity planning of complex IT infrastructure.
  2. Plan and configure equipment/services in on-premise or cloud environments, including wireless, switches/routers, VoIP, SAN, and servers.
  3. Oversee resilient systems across multiple data centers and locations.
  4. Design, configure, and support firmware updates, cloud services, and control planes.
  5. Research emerging technologies and stay updated on industry trends, products, and services.
  6. Interact with co-workers, visitors, and staff in line with Jefferson's values.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  1. Collaborate with vendors/carriers for troubleshooting enterprise issues.
  2. Respond to escalations and service interruptions.
  3. Provide operational support including performance tuning, upgrades, user support, and monitoring.
  4. Work with internal teams and vendors on incident resolution.
  5. Support build and upgrade activities, including documentation and knowledge base creation.
  6. Maintain external relationships with vendors and service providers.
  7. Design, develop, and sustain engineering support for all services.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and administer Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
  2. Design and implement high-availability, multi-region Azure solutions.
  3. Analyze and improve operational standards and processes.

Educational/Training Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registration:

Certifications in networking/telephony (e.g., CCIE), Compute (e.g., MCP, VCP, RHCE), Database (e.g., MCSA SQL, EPIC DBA), Storage (e.g., FlashBlade, Hitachi, EMC) are required.

Experience Requirements:

  • Over 7 years in a relevant operations role.
  • At least 5 years as a lead engineer.
  • Minimum 3 years in a single domain in-depth experience.

Additional Information:

  • Stay current with relevant technologies.
  • Participate in special projects.
  • Possess technical awareness for resource matching and service support.
  • Knowledge of tools and materials for voice and data systems.
  • At least 4 years of Microsoft Azure experience.
  • Experience with IaaS and PaaS solutions, enterprise infrastructure, databases, and applications.
  • Experience working within Agile and ITIL frameworks.
  • Proficiency in IaC tools like Terraform, Azure CLI, Ansible.
  • Scripting experience with Azure PowerShell.
  • Knowledge of Windows, Linux VMs, networking, routing, and firewalls.
  • Experience with Azure services like AKS, Data Warehouse, Azure Policy, and Site Recovery.
  • Proficient with GIT, ADO, and ServiceNow.
  • Broad IT skills including networking, systems administration, security, and CI/CD tooling.
