- Support and promote the mission and philosophy of Garrison Forest School
- Maintain an environment that fosters respect among students and colleagues, serving as a role model
- Project a professional demeanor in conduct, speech, and dress
- Establish clear developmental goals and demonstrate effective planning skills
- Possess thorough knowledge of curriculum and child development
- Participate in professional development
- Align lesson/unit planning and assessments with curriculum
- Tailor instruction to individual needs
- Assess, document, and communicate learner performance following guidelines
- Communicate effectively with students and families
- Create a secure, stimulating environment promoting autonomy and collaboration
- Foster a positive atmosphere that models respect, kindness, and honesty
- Keep detailed records of student progress and behaviors to inform support strategies
- Develop and maintain relationships with parents to support student well-being
- Set developmentally appropriate goals for students across academic, social, emotional, and physical domains
- Promote anti-bias approaches in the learning environment
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and organized classroom environment
- Supervise and support interns, volunteers, substitutes, and psychology students as needed
- Attend meetings and contribute positively
- Participate in the admission process as needed

- Collaborate with the administrative team to enhance the learning experience
Daycare Specific Responsibilities
- Communicate curriculum and student progress to parents, record attendance and notes daily, write newsletters, and participate in conferences
- Engage in school activities and initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all Office of Child Care regulations
Qualifications
- Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
- Completion of all COMAR Staff Requirements for a Lead Preschool Teacher
- Experience working with infants and toddlers in a daycare setting
- Commitment to diversity and multicultural educational practices; ability to work in a diverse community
Pay Range: $44,000-$47,000. Salary commensurate with experience.
