Job summary

The West Side YMCA is hiring a Lead Teacher for a Toddler or Infant classroom. Under the guidance of the Early Childhood Director, the Infant/Toddler Teacher will implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum to support social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.

You will coach Assistant Teachers and coordinate with families throughout the school year. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree and state certification requirements as listed by the program.
• Experience with early childhood development and parent engagement.
• Ability to supervise assistants and coordinate with staff.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of children in the program.
• Plan and lead developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.
• Facilitate lessons across literacy, arts, math, science, and outdoor/indoor activities.
• Develop classroom centers aligned with ongoing curriculum.
• Maintain student assessments and growth documentation.
• Communicate with parents regarding growth and program updates.

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field) and State Teacher certification

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and one year of experience

Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (practicum included) and five years of experience

CDA with approved DOH plan leading to ECE degree within seven years
