Job description

The Treasure Valley Family YMCA’s Child Development programs support children in their ongoing growth to ensure that they are ready for the next educational milestone, whether that be preschool, kindergarten, middle school, or high school.

The Lead Infant Teacher is responsible for creating an environment with a teaching team that promotes each child’s development and supports children and their family’s diverse needs and interests.

Responsibilities:

  • Fulfill all job requirements from the job description for which this position will be a lead.
  • Function as a point person for others in the same job position.
  • Support others in handling and resolving concerns and inform supervisor.
  • Assist with tasks as assigned.
  • As assigned, mentor and assist with the position-specific training of staff.
  • Under the direction of supervisor, plan, organize, supervise, and facilitate a variety of age-appropriate curriculum, assessments, and parent communication on child growth and development.
  • Create an environment that fosters safety though active supervision and by role modeling safe behavior.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years working with children.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) certification or obtains within 2 years of when YMCA CDA & Apprentice Program implemented, or 12 college credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, and/or early childhood special education.
  • Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
  • Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Schedule:

This is a full-time position at 40 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30am-5:30pm.

Required Licensure and/or Certifications:

  • Boise City and/or Idaho State Child Care License: Prerequisite upon hire (14-day compliance period).
  • Pediatric CPR/AED: Prerequisite upon hire (14-day compliance period).
  • First Aid: Prerequisite upon hire (14-day compliance period).
