Job summary

MARS Early Learning Academy in Seattle seeks a Lead Infant Class Teacher (Bilingual) to create a nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment for 6-week to 12-month-olds. You will lead a teaching team, coordinate curriculum, and support dual-language development from an early age.

Must be fluent in English and Spanish, with a certificate in early childhood education and at least three years of infant experience.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
• ECE certification or higher required, or currently enrolled in an ECE program.
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate infant curriculum.
• Create a warm, secure environment that supports early brain development.
• Mentor and coach assistants to maintain consistency in care and curriculum.
• Foster bilingual language exposure through songs and stories.
• Develop individual lesson plans and group activities for infants.
• Observe and assess developmental milestones and adjust strategies.
• Ensure diapering, feeding, and sleep routines meet licensing standards.
• Maintain parent communication regarding progress and routines.

Position Summary:

The Lead Infant Class Teacher (Bilingual) is responsible for creating and maintaining a nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment for infants ages 6 weeks to 12 months. This role involves leading a cohesive teaching team, coordinating curriculum, and ensuring that all classroom activities support early learning standards while promoting each child’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth. The ideal candidate will be fluent in English and Spanish and passionate about supporting dual-language development from an early age.

Teachers must be skilled in building trusting relationships with families, supporting assistant teachers, and maintaining a safe and engaging classroom that meets all health and licensing standards.

Schedule:

• Shift Options: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Preferred -8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. is the latest possible start time for this classroom

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate infant curriculum using The Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD (TSG).


• Create a warm, secure, and stimulating environment that supports early brain development and responsive caregiving.


• Lead by example; mentor and coach classroom assistants to maintain consistency in care and curriculum.


• Foster bilingual (English/Spanish) language exposure through songs, stories, and interactive communication.


• Develop individual lesson plans and group activities that encourage sensory exploration, communication, and emerging motor skills.


• Observe, document, and assess each child’s developmental milestones, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.


• Ensure all diapering, feeding, and sleep routines are conducted safely and in compliance with state licensing and health guidelines.


• Maintain daily communication with parents regarding infant progress, routines, and developmental updates.


• Support positive transitions, such as from bottle to cup or tummy time to crawling, through individualized attention.


• Serve meals and snacks following CACFP nutritional guidelines.


• Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and developmental records.


• Attend all staff meetings and professional development sessions.


• Support a safe, clean, and inclusive classroom environment at all times.


• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)


• ECE Initial Certificate or higher (required) or currently enrolled in an Early Childhood Education program


• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred


• Minimum of three years of experience working specifically with infants in a licensed early learning setting


• Strong understanding of infant developmental milestones and responsive caregiving practices


• Effective oral and written communication skills


• Ability to design and implement creative, engaging activities for young infants


• Knowledge of early childhood education best practices, licensing requirements, and child safety standards

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The position requires frequent lifting (up to 25 lbs), bending, sitting on the floor, and engaging in active play with infants. Must be able to see, hear, and respond quickly to children’s needs. The classroom environment is active, with moderate to high noise levels.
