Position Details:

  • Shift: 1stShift: Monday - Thursday; 5:00am – 3:00pm
  • Pay Range: Up to $25.00/hour (basedupon experience, skill set, and shift)


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare metal surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, and applying primers as necessary.
  • Apply powder, wet, and/or polyurethane coatings using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Applies coatings to large parts in batch paint booth.
  • Operate and maintain painting equipment, including spray guns, curing ovens, and ventilation systems.
  • Ensure proper thickness and even application of coatings according to specifications.
  • Inspect finished work to ensure quality, durability, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Identify and repair paint defects.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of painting equipment.
  • Perform color changes in accordance with company procedures.
  • Adjust paint equipment settings for optimal coatings quality.
  • Identify equipment malfunctions and adjust settings as needed.
  • Follow company policies, safety protocols, and quality assurance guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Accurately allocate paint usage in ERP system.
  • Accurately fill out required operations and quality paperwork.
  • Train and coach employees on fundamental paint techniques and equipment operations/procedures.


Leadership and Team Support

  • Monitor productivity, update production boards, track data in ERP and ensure quality and safety compliance.
  • Onboard, train, and mentor employees to optimize performance.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to resolve challenges.
  • Maintain housekeeping and enforce company policies.
  • Lead and/or participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in delegating jobs to department employees
  • Document and forward employee policy issues to supervisor

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience and/or Training:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience and/or training in production painter position.
  • Must possess knowledge of powder and wet coating applications and techniques.
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of reading, writing, and understanding work instructions, work orders, or customer specifications.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience and/or Training:

  • Knowledge/experience with troubleshooting and maintenance of paint guns/equipment
  • Prior experience in working in a leadership capability
  • Prior experience in conducting on-the-job training for new hires
  • Prior experience with ERP systems


Physical and Mental Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must frequently sit, stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and move between work areas.
  • Regularly required to talk and listen, as well as climb, balance, and reach above shoulder level.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
  • The employee must be able to lift and or carry up to 50 lbs. frequently.

Working Environment
