About the Role:

Grade Level (for internal use): 12

S&P Dow Jones Indices is seeking a Senior Engineer to be a key player in planning, preparation and development of software for key platform. This role requires a seasoned engineer who works effectively, both independently as well as collaboratively, in a team environment. The candidate must be a delivery-focused person with financial applications experience and skills.

The candidate will assist with designing, development, and maintenance of solutions for multiple technology platforms that the technology team supports.

Responsibilities

  • Design and development of Java applications for S&P DJI platform systems
  • Participate in multiple software development processes including requirement analysis, design, coding, testing and documentation
  • Develop software applications based on clear business specifications
  • Work on new initiatives and support existing Index applications.
  • Build applications with object-oriented concepts and apply design patterns
  • Setup development environment/sandbox for application development
  • Perform unit testing of application code and fix errors
  • Interface with databases to extract information and build.
  • Effectively interact with customers, business users and IT staff.

Compensation/Benefits Information:
(This section is only applicable to US candidates) S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $134,656 to $197,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.

Basic Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or Engineering is required, or in lieu, a demonstrated equivalence in work experience
  • 12+ years of IT experience in application development.
  • Strong Architectural experience in developing complex financial systems.
  • Strong Java skills with experience in development of concurrent and distributed systems
  • Hands-on experience using Java 8 features (Streams API, Functional programming)
  • Strong design and development skills to build end of day financial systems.
  • Strong experience with Java, J2EE, JMS, Maven/Gradle
  • Hands-on experience in designing, developing, testing, and successfully deploying critical and complex projects
  • Good experience with Spring-based technologies (Spring Boot etc.)
  • Advanced experience with Spring-based technologies (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud etc.) and caching frameworks like Hazelcast
  • Experience in designing and implementing microservices-based solutions
  • Should have experience writing unit/integration tests
  • Experience writing SQL queries and good understanding of data model
  • Experience with Spring framework.
  • Experience in Rest Services
  • Experience in caching like Elasticsearch, Redis.
  • Experience in ActiveMQ or any other related messaging provider.
  • Experience in SQL, PL/SQL programming.
  • Exposure to Cloud, preferably AWS services
  • Exposure to Docker containers & ECS
  • Exposure to CI/CD like Jenkins, Gitlab etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
