Job Summary
The I&C Hardware Engineer works within the I&C Engineering team, responsible for designing and implementing I&C electronic hardware and software for Nuclear Power Plants. The role requires technical problem-solving, strong hardware design skills, and effective communication and collaboration with other teams within GEH.
Responsibilities
- Develop innovative solutions and simplify complex engineering problems.
- Create designs from requirements and assist in defining requirements.
- Design activities include schematic design, component selection, PCB layout, FPGA design, simulation, code reviews, and integration testing.
- Document designs through specifications, code reviews, and test reports.
- Engage with customers to define scope, review results, and discuss risks.
- Work with technical leaders to establish work plans, schedules, and requirements.
- Apply engineering fundamentals to ensure expected performance.
- Provide analysis documentation following GE procedures.
- Manage time effectively to deliver quality work within deadlines and communicate progress to leadership.
- Develop system verification and validation test requirements.
- Create test plans, procedures, and testware.
- Perform testing and report generation for component failure analysis.
- Interface with designers to validate outputs.
- Generate and verify test documentation.
- Prepare production test procedures for components and assemblies.
- Ensure compliance with GEH and industry processes, participate in reviews, and promote improvements.
- Support documentation and resolution of quality issues through the GEH Corrective Action Program.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in electrical, computer, or software engineering or an Associate's Degree with 5+ years of experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in electronic circuit boards and FPGA design.
Eligibility
- Preferred location: Wilmington, NC; remote candidates within 200 miles considered.
- Monthly travel to Wilmington required for onsite testing.
Desired Skills
- Experience with PCB design, signal analysis, and verification tools.
- Knowledge of HDL languages and FPGA development tools.
