Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead HVAC Technician to oversee and perform a wide range of HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, leadership experience, and the ability to supervise projects and personnel. This role offers the opportunity to grow within the company while working in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate with supervisors, team members, and subcontractors to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects and service calls.
Delegate tasks to HVAC staff and contractors, providing technical guidance and ensuring quality workmanship.
Diagnose HVAC system issues and determine necessary repairs or replacements.
Install, repair, and maintain HVAC systems and equipment including furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, ventilation systems, and controls.
Monitor HVAC systems and components to identify performance issues and recommend preventative maintenance.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure systems operate efficiently and reliably.
Balance air and water systems in accordance with HVAC protocols.
Test HVAC systems for functionality, performance, and safety compliance.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and systems serviced.
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents to plan installations or repairs.
Ensure work is performed in compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Supervise and train HVAC staff to ensure a high standard of workmanship and professionalism.
Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in safe and working condition.
Participate in training sessions, safety meetings, and professional development workshops.
Order and track materials, tools, and equipment necessary for HVAC tasks.
Respond to emergency HVAC service calls as needed.
Requirements
Associate’s degree in HVAC Technology or related field, or equivalent completion of a recognized HVAC trade journeyman program.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC systems, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Strong understanding of advanced principles of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration.
Proficient in reading technical manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams.
Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
EPA Universal Certification (or ability to obtain within 1 year).
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or outdoors in varying weather.
