Job summary

Broward County Public Schools is seeking a skilled maintenance lead to coordinate and oversee HVAC, refrigeration, and related trades. You will manage repairs from one to 800 tons systems, read blueprints, prepare material estimates, and supervise junior mechanics.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, seven years in HVAC, and relevant Florida certifications. A valid Florida CDL and safety compliance are expected. This position offers an hourly rate with benefits and a nonexempt status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Seven years of recent HVAC experience with relevant certifications or apprenticeship program.
• Florida commercial driver’s license with endorsements may be required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, construct, and oversee the work of HVAC and refrigeration mechanics and other trades.
• Review malfunction job orders and determine materials; complete repairs expeditiously.
• Receive and complete emergency calls dispatched over radio.
• Read blueprints and technical data; prepare material estimates.
• Instruct other mechanics in proper repair procedures and safety.
• Follow written and oral instructions and work well with others.
• Participate in training to increase skills.
• Operate district vehicle safely and manage supplies.
