Confidential Employer in Springfield, MA is seeking a lead mechanical designer to drive the design of commercial building systems. You will collaborate with clients, estimators, and project teams to translate concepts into practical, buildable designs using AutoCAD MEP and Revit.

The role combines design leadership with estimating involvement, offering growth opportunities and visible impact across projects.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of mechanical design experience within a mechanical contracting environment.
• Strong AutoCAD MEP and/or Revit experience.
• Experience working directly with customers on mechanical building design.
• Knowledge of commercial mechanical systems and construction practices.
• Experience supporting project estimating and preconstruction activities.
• Comfortable coordinating with subcontractors and vendors to obtain pricing.
• Strong communication, design coordination, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for commercial building projects.
• Work directly with customers to understand requirements and develop solutions.
• Create and coordinate mechanical designs using AutoCAD MEP and Revit.
• Develop HVAC, piping, plumbing, and related mechanical system designs.
• Review drawings, specifications, layouts, and project requirements for accuracy and constructability.
• Collaborate with project management, estimating, engineering, and field teams.
• Participate in estimating and preconstruction activities; coordinate with subcontractors and vendors for pricing.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and practical design solutions.
• Provide design leadership to meet customer expectations, budgets, and schedules.
