Job summary

Neon Aero in Irvine, California seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead high‑voltage power electronics for motor drives in aerospace and advanced mobility. You will architect, design, and qualify HV drives from 1 kW to 100 kW, on 270–800 V DC buses, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and mentoring engineers.

This hands‑on role demands deep expertise in inverter stages, SiC/GaN devices, PMSM drives, and DO‑160/MIL‑STD qualification.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 12 years designing and shipping power electronics.
• Experience with HV DC buses (270 V to 1000 V) and multi-kW drives.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and design of HV motor drives (1–3 kW convection, 3–100 kW liquid/air cooled).
• Design inverter power stages for 270–800 V buses (up to 1000 V).
• Lead validation, CCA, and qualification per DO-160/MIL-STD guidelines.
