Job summary

Aptima Inc. in Orlando seeks a Senior AI Engineer - Human-AI Systems to lead design and implementation of AI-enabled systems that integrate human cognition, team dynamics, and machine intelligence for national security applications.

You will serve as technical lead on multidisciplinary programs, translate mission needs into system requirements, and drive evaluation plans with a strong focus on human-centered AI and rigorous performance measurement.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in cognitive psychology, human factors, AI/computer science, or related field.
• Expertise in human cognition, team dynamics, trust in automation, and human-AI interaction.
• Strong quantitative modeling and experimental design background, including regression and multivariate analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead human-AI teaming design and mixed-initiative system behaviors for DoW apps.
• Coordinate AI engineers and researchers as technical lead.
• Translate mission needs into system requirements and architectures.
• Design and run human-subject experiments to evaluate trust and workload.
• Develop analytic pipelines and performance metrics from real-world data.
• Present technical work to internal teams and customers.
• Mentor staff and promote best practices in human-centered AI.
