Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) seeks an Aerothermodynamics Engineer to lead development of CFD software for NASA Ames' Code TSA, focusing on HPC modernization and GPU-accelerated computing. Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • Strong background in numerical methods for CFD from research, thesis, internships, or professional work.
  • Experience developing massively parallel CFD solvers for Linux with CPU and GPU hardware.
  • Familiarity with scale-resolving or high-fidelity methods (RANS-LES, DNS).
  • Knowledge of mesh generation, aerothermodynamic data analysis, and CFD verification/validation.
  • Experience using scientific programming languages for analysis.
  • Experience running multi-physics aerothermodynamics simulations for hypersonic flows.
  • Ability to document technical work and communicate results clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Develop multi-physics aerothermodynamics simulation software.
  • Prepare geometries, generate and evaluate meshes, and develop inputs and best practices.
  • Set up, execute, and monitor CFD simulations on HPC systems.
  • Post-process results and evaluate convective and radiative environments.
  • Support verification and validation activities, including convergence and mesh studies.
  • Document methods, configurations and results for reports and publications.
