Job description

SCHEDULE: 40 hours, Monday – Friday 8am – 4:30pm, with availability for early mornings, evenings, & weekends as needed.

PAYS: $25.12 per hour DOE.

LOCATION: Must have the ability to travel to various locations as needed, e.g., 444 Harrison Avenue, Boston; 363 Albany St, Boston; 1 Lingard St, Boston.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:

The Lead Housing Resource Specialist (LHRS) partners with shelter guests to reduce barriers to housing and supports utilizing actionable decisions and individual housing plans. The goal is to quickly lead guests to safe, affordable housing with the necessary supports to sustain it. The LHRS exhibits excellent customer service, initiative, self-direction, teamwork, a good sense of humor, and knowledge of Boston housing resources. The role involves researching and accessing new housing opportunities, updating resource materials, and assessing guest independence in managing housing searches. The LHRS may work out of the Rapid Engagement Center as needed and will support leadership and supervise two co-op students. The position requires accurate data entry into the HMIS system, emphasizing attention to detail and organization.

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:

Education/Training:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of experience working with the homeless population towards housing.

Preferred:

  • Bi-Lingual in Spanish or Haitian-Creole.
Knowledge/Experience:

Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years working with individuals facing homelessness, mental health issues, trauma, and substance abuse.
  • Knowledge of housing resources in Boston.
  • Proficiency in internet, social media, and research tools for resource identification.
  • Fluent in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel), email, and internet browsers.
  • Experience maintaining confidential records.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented setting.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
