Job summary

HiredFirst is seeking a Hospital Laboratory Director in Chattanooga, TN to lead all operations of the hospital-based laboratory within a multi-division clinical laboratory services network.

The role ensures regulatory compliance with CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, and CMS, and oversees staffing, budgeting, and vendor relationships. A strong track record in hospital lab management and vaccination per local regulations is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry is required.
• Master’s degree is preferred.
• National Certification as a Medical Technologist is required.
• State license where required (CA, FL, LA, NV, TN) — required for submission.
• 3+ years or more of progressive laboratory management experience is required with complex laboratory operations.
• Leadership experience is required.
• Hospital clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
• COVID-19 vaccination is required unless a medical or religious exemption is approved.

Responsibilities

• Lead all operations, programs, and activities for the hospital-based laboratory.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, and CMS.
• Oversee staffing lifecycle from hiring to coaching and development.
• Manage vendor relationships and supply contracts in coordination with Laboratory Services and Supply Chain.
• Develop and maintain a structured communication plan for staff.
