Job summary

Head High School Cheer Coach position at Union R-XI School District. The coach will lead the varsity cheer program, align with district athletic policies, and coordinate schedules with the Athletic Director and Principal.

The role requires directing travel for competitions, ensuring student physicals and permits, and managing practice times, facilities, and equipment while promoting sportsmanship and positive staff relations.

Qualifications

• Requires a four-year degree or two years coaching at a MSHSAA member school.
• Teaching certificate or NFSH Fundamentals of Coaching Class.
• Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance.
• First Aid & CPR certification.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board and/or Superintendent may find appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Coaches the varsity squad.
• Implements district athletic department policies.
• Works with the Athletic Director and Principal on schedules.
• Communicates sport schedule; arranges travel for away trips.
• Verifies student physical examination requirements and prepares permission slips.
• Develops practice schedules with the Athletic Director.
• Oversees facilities and equipment storage.
• Attends meetings and keeps booster clubs informed.
