The role focuses on hands-on training, coaching, and ensuring adherence to safety standards while supporting a local project. Ideal candidates will have 5+ years as an operator, union membership, and strong communication and leadership abilities, with knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma with at least five years of experience as an operator.
• Member in good standing of the Operating Engineers Union.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of MSHA and OSHA regulations and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Train and develop new operators to improve equipment operation skills.
• Collaborate with experienced operators to keep skills current and updated.
• Build and maintain relationships with operators, mechanics, superintendents, and management for effective field communication.
• Provide management recommendations regarding operator placement for optimal fit and company benefit.
• Inspect equipment to ensure maintenance and safety procedures are followed.
• Ensure operators understand proper equipment processes and report deficiencies to supervision.
• Monitor equipment to ensure operation within rated capacities.
• Maintain relationships with Local Unions, trade schools, and skilled craft community to source qualified operators.
• Communicate needed repairs to ensure timely maintenance.
