Job summary

Branch Builds, Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic II focused on safety to join our growing team in Wilkesboro, NC.

You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a range of heavy construction equipment, troubleshoot independently, and mentor entry-level mechanics. This full-time role requires strong field skills, the ability to lift up to 75 lbs, and willingness to be on-call for delays or emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational heavy equipment repair preferred.
• 3–5 years as a heavy equipment mechanic, with 2+ years on construction equipment.
• Valid CDL preferred or ability to obtain.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, adjustments, and overhauls.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and manuals to identify and resolve issues.
• Inspect and repair engines, hydraulics, transmissions, electrical systems, and undercarriages.
• Repair and service heavy equipment like bulldozers, excavators, graders, loaders, backhoes, cranes.
• Weld, fabricate, and modify parts as needed.
• Maintain service records and parts usage following company procedures.
• Follow safety PPE and environmental protocols.
• Mentor Heavy Equipment Mechanic I and apprentices.
• Assist in road calls and field repairs to minimize downtime.
• May perform other related duties as assigned.
