Job summary

Valor Fleet Services is seeking experienced heavy-duty tow operators. You will operate wreckers and rotators, perform complex recoveries, assess scenes, rig loads and coordinate with responders to ensure safe transport.

The role requires a CDL Class A with air brake endorsement, DOT medical card, and 21+ years old. Shifts include on-call, nights, weekends and holidays, with mandatory safety training and on-site work.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with air brake endorsement and no restrictions on tow operations.
• Current DOT medical card; must pass pre-employment drug screen and stay in random testing.
• At least 21 years old (interstate CDL requirement).
• 3+ years of towing experience, including 2+ years with heavy-duty wreckers.
• Proven heavy recovery experience: uprighting, winching, multi-point rigging.
• Motor vehicle record acceptable; able to pass background check.
• High school diploma or GED; willing to work on-call, nights, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty wreckers, rotators, carriers and lowboy trailers to tow and recover vehicles and equipment.
• Perform complex recoveries including uprighting and winching from ditches or embankments.
• Assess scene hazards, vehicle condition and plan safe recovery operations.
• Rig and secure loads with chains, straps and rigging within equipment capacities.
• Set up TIM zones with cones and lighting; coordinate with law enforcement and responders.
• Disconnect driveshafts and prepare vehicles for safe transport.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip DVIR inspections; report defects.
• Document jobs with photos, signatures, invoices and orders.
• Stay in contact with dispatch and customers; manage time pressures professionally.
• Respond to on-call/after-hours calls as required.
• Mentor light- and medium-duty operators on larger jobs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
