The Lead HCM Consultant will serve in several capacities as a critical member of the Professional Services team during the full life cycle of a client. This primary responsibility is to directly assist the Project Manager in the execution of their responsibilities and to create best practices and standards for the initial intake process of any new client or new project related to an existing client.
This role will also serve as a mentor and liaison to Technology and Data Consultants to assist with the successful execution of data transformation, integrations, technical configuration, testing and data validation efforts throughout a project.
This role requires advanced knowledge of HRIS software platforms such as: ADP WFN, Paylocity, Paycor, Paycom, Paychex, UKG, Kronos, Blue Marble, Rippling, etc. Experience and knowledge related to Payroll, Benefits Management, HR and Onboarding is also required.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Managed Payroll/HRE specific items:
- This specific role will have the primary responsibilities for handling the intake of all Managed Payroll / HR Essentials clients – but will also assist with other types of clients when needed
- This specific role will perform initial detailed analysis with the client on their current Payroll and HR processes, pay practices, processing schedules, etc.
- This specific role will work with the Technology Consultant team to perform a review of the client’s Ecosystem and IT architecture specific to their HRIS and Payroll platforms and determine opportunities for integrations and optimizations.
- This specific role will engage with the client team and direct the execution of 2-3 Payroll “shadows” so that sufficient SOPs and other details are captured to ensure the success of the HCM Unlocked Managed Payroll team at transition.
- This specific role will collaborate with the both the client and HCM Unlocked HR and Payroll teams to make recommendations for best practices, changes to processes for enhanced accuracy and optimization, and oversee the creation of all necessary internal SOPs to be utilized by the HCM Unlocked managed payroll and managed HR consultants assigned to the account.
Standard Lead HCM Consultant Items:
- Conducts pre-sales scoping analysis to determine project needs and projected hours
- Assist managers and leads with coaching, mentoring and developing new hires and identifying cross-training opportunities to increase skills across many different platforms and domain areas (ie Payroll, Benefits, HR, Custom Reporting, Integrations, Data, etc) so that they can become even more successful in their own primary roles and contributions to clients.
- Provide feedback on all newly trained consultants while monitoring project assignments to ensure proper alignment with skillset.
- Use knowledge and skills to assist project managers and team members to create detailed input for project plan sections related to data services, technical configuration, integrations, payroll, benefits and HR.
- Assist project team members with the creation and execution of test scripts and audits related to to data services, technical configuration, integrations, payroll, benefits and HR during all phases of projects such as SIT, UAT, Parallel and Go-live.
- Assist the Project Manager to serve as a liaison between the client, platform vendor and HCM Unlocked technical resources to ensure that the client’s data requirements are accurately and completely captured during the design phase and then confirmed to be complete during testing and validation phases.
- Assist the Project Manager with review of existing client’s technical architecture and landscape and make recommendations for optimizations with the intent to eliminate the possibility of any errors during the end-to-end flow of data.
- Assist the Project Manager to collaborate with the QA Lead/Data Optimizer to confirm the integrity of client data at each critical project stage gate.
- Assist the Project Manager to ensure formal Signoff events by client and HCM Unlocked at each critical validation stage gate.
- Assist the Project Manager to maintain the Open Issues log and resolve all items related to data integrity
- Assist the Project Manager to oversee and confirm proof of testing and data validation of data by all parties
- Assist the Project Manager and consultants to work with clients to coordinate and schedule electronic data extraction such as the following areas: new HCM demographic, year to date, history (including check detail, rate and position) and custom data extractions
- Assist the Project Manager to maintain all supporting data in client folders during the execution of the project.
- Assist the Project Manager to successfully transition the client to Managed Services at the conclusion of the project.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)
Managed Payroll/HRE specific items:
- Previous Payroll experience processing and producing accurate and timely payrolls for multiple
- clients, in multiple locations (states), in compliance with state and federal regulations and company policies.
- Knowledge of validating employees’ timesheets for accuracy and/or performing extracts from third-party timekeeping systems and importing into payroll
- Executing necessary adjustments in pay for raises, bonuses, commission, and severance.
- Reviewing and validating payroll reports for accuracy, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all client files, payroll information, and employee PII.
- Analyzing payroll results and other Human Resources reports to answer complex questions and
- recommend courses of action while exercising independent judgment and discretion.
- Understanding the employee garnishment process and compliance laws associated with it.
- Coordinating payroll general ledger processing with accounting.
- Creating post-process payroll reports.
- Inputting employee changes, maintain deductions, banking information, and employee
- maintenance items.
- At least 3 years’ proven experience processing end-to-end payroll.
- Experience processing payrolls with multiple EINs and all levels of complexity.
- Prior experience working in a multi-client environment is required.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, regulations, and best practices.
- Experience processing certified payrolls, weekly compliance reporting, and knowledge of
- prevailing wage laws a plus.
- Expert knowledge of job costing, piece rate is a plus.
- Educated on compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and requirements.
- FPC or CPP payroll certification is plus.
Standard Lead HCM Consultant Items:
- High School Diploma required - Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in a computer-related field
- Expert knowledge on multiple modules within one or more one or more of the following: ADP WFN, Paylocity, Paycor, Paycom, Paychex, Ceridian Dayforce, Workday, UKG, Blue Marble, Rippling, including extensive payroll implementation experience
- Experience with integrations between third-party systems – such as API, EDI, or batch processing of flat files.
- Understanding of PII data and governance requirements and ability to maintain confidentiality related to sensitive company and employee information
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to listen and effectively verbalize ideas.
- Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects while completing deadlines in an organized manner; demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and client relationship skills and ability to remain calm in stressful situations such as customer escalations.
- Ability to create QA processes that capture before and after outcomes and satisfy governance and audit requirements.
- Ability to create specific test scripts based upon individual client needs that will ensure 100% validation of all client data needs during the course of a project.
- Strong experience with Excel and other tools used in QA and Testing validation efforts, especially with large volumes of data
- Familiarity, or ability to rapidly learn, teach, and instruct on various HRIS software platforms.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite of products (MS Word, Excel and Power Point) is essential.
- Experience with Powerpoint and other tools that may be used to document client landscapes and architecture at a high-level.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
- Previous payroll, implementation or HR Experience is strongly recommended
