Job description

Job Title: Lead Hazardous Materials Technician (Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, NM)

Director of Environmental Compliance

Company Overview:

Bhate Environmental Associates, Inc. is seeking a Lead Hazardous Materials (HM) Technician to manage the Air Force Enterprise Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Management Information System (EESOH-MIS) for Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The primary work location will be at Kirtland AFB.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate HM program support activities.
  2. Assist shops with submitting Process Authorizations.
  3. Review Process Authorizations submitted in EESOH-MIS.
  4. Make recommendations for authorization and tracking of hazardous materials, as necessary.
  5. Track Hazardous Materials entering the Base in EESOH-MIS.
  6. Monitor organization use of EESOH-MIS to ensure hazardous materials are properly tracked and users are authorized.
  7. Prepare training materials and provide training on the proper use of EESOH-MIS, including classes and personal interactions.
  8. Assist in tracking users and ensuring all System Authorization Access Request (SAAR) forms are up-to-date, accurate, and properly approved.
  9. Perform annual SAAR validation and report results.
  10. Conduct HM compliance inspections of shops.
  11. Provide a monthly report of HM activities.
  12. Perform customer compliance assessments and report findings.
  13. Compile data for EPCRA reporting and generate EPCRA data reports.
  14. Preferred certifications include HAZWOPER 40-Hr Certificate & 8-Hr Annual Refreshers, DOT HazMat Employee, RCRA Hazardous Waste Training, and RCRA Waste Generator/Handler certifications. Training can be provided upon hiring.
  15. Qualifications: High School Diploma, Associates or 4-Year Degree, relevant experience, and the ability to obtain necessary certifications.
Other Requirements:
  1. Pass a government background check to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  2. Possess a valid U.S. State-issued driver’s license.
