Job summary

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. in San Diego, CA leads hardware development for AI compute platforms, designing rack-level systems and PCIe-based cards across cross-functional teams. You will shape specifications and drive hardware integration from concept to production.

This role requires strong expertise in schematic and PCB design, high-speed interfaces, and collaboration with ODMs/OEMs to meet performance targets. Travel to sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/EE with 4+ years hardware engineering experience.
  • Master’s degree with 3+ years hardware experience.
  • PhD with 2+ years hardware experience.
  • System/card/rack-level development including architecture, design and deployment.
  • Collaborate with ODMs/OEMs on joint designs and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead schematics design, PCB layouts, design reviews, component selections, mechanical and thermal designs, and develop test plans.
  • Co-develop functional specifications for systems, cards, sub-systems, and rack-level architectures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and ODMs to develop customer-specific hardware and system requirements.
  • Facilitate consensus on technical trade-offs at hardware, software, and chip design levels.
  • Support architecture and card designs including accelerator SoCs, memory, I/O, power delivery, PCB design.
  • Participate in rack-level inference solutions development and validation.
  • Resolve architecture and design issues across system, card, and rack levels.
  • Assist bring-up and debugging of hardware systems, cards, and rack configurations.
  • Provide technical oversight of factory and manufacturing processes.
  • Contribute to SOWs and drive milestones; coordinate across sites and partners.
  • Travel to development and customer sites to support deployments and validation.
  • Deliver technical training for ODMs on rack-level system integration.
