Lead Groundsworker
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, andqualifications the candidate brings to the position, internalequity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification SalaryRange for this position is $3,890 (Step #1) - $5,555 (Step #19) permonth.

Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, and tools andequipment used in planting, cultivating and caring for flowers,shrubs, lawns and trees. General knowledge of common plantdiseases, pests, and weeds and approved methods and materials usedin their control and eradication. Horticultural methods andmaterials and planting and growing requirements of plants commonlygrown in California. Extensive knowledge of plants; Advanceknowledge of irrigation programming, scheduling, design andinstallation. Ability to draft, coordinate and supervise the workof others. Ability to provide training, interpret policies andexplain methods and procedures. Inspect and evaluate the work ofothers. Ability to read and write at a level sufficient forsatisfactory job performance.
Ability to perform general gardening and grounds maintenance work.Supervision experience in an institutional setting. Knowledge andability to read blueprints and inspect quality of work. Basiccomputer skills, ability to send and read email, operate otherprograms as trained. Must be able to read, write, and speak at alevel appropriate to the position. Must be able to occasionallywork a flexible schedule to meet organizational needs. Experienceworking in a university or large service organizational setting.Maintains a safe work environment.
Communicates with the University community in a civil manner.Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diversecampus community. Ability to follow all university policies,procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety,civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies andprocedures. Ability to contribute to a positive universityexperience for each and every student and assist in achieving theuniversity's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Equivalent to a high school diploma and two years of experience inplanting, cultivating, and maintaining flowers and shrubs, or ingeneral grounds maintenance work required.
Valid California driver's license required
Medium work - Job involves lifting heavy weightobjects (20-40 pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involvesstanding, squatting, kneeling, or walking. May require pushing orpulling objects within the weight limits.
