Job summary

Louisiana State University is seeking a Horticultural Attendant Foreman to supervise groundskeeping crews and operate a range of hand and power equipment. The role involves pruning, chemical application, plant care, and storm cleanup.

The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds, valid driver’s license, and ability to work in adverse weather, with possible overtime and weekend duties. Assistant tasks include irrigation work and routine maintenance at LSU facilities.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience or training in farming, the care and maintenance of trees and shrubs, or groundskeeping.
• Eighteen semester hours in a plant science or landscape field of study.
• Valid driver’s license with ability to obtain/maintain MVR.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct others and/or operate power riding mower (25HP or less), trimmer, edger, blower, hedger, etc. to maintain grounds and facilities.
• Assist with litter control, debris removal, and storm cleanup during events and weather conditions.
• Perform weed control, fertilization, mulching, planting, irrigation work, and routine landscape maintenance.
• Inspect mobile equipment, change blades/tires, and assist with preventative maintenance.
• Lead two or more crews and coordinate tasks for groundskeeping operations.
