Job summary

UNLV is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker 5 in Grounds Services (Tree Crew) within Facilities Management. The role leads a crew focused on pruning, shaping, and maintaining a wide variety of campus trees, ensures safe, efficient work, and coordinates with other units to minimize disruption to campus activities.

The position requires several years of grounds maintenance experience, strong supervision skills, and a focus on safety, with duties including planning, training, and quality control

Qualifications

• Three years of experience providing grounds maintenance service including landscape, garden, or greenhouse maintenance; OR one year of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker IV in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a crew of Grounds Maintenance Worker 2s focused on maintenance of a wide variety of tree species across the UNLV campus.
• Plan and schedule work to ensure no area on campus is forgotten and adjust for events, schedules, and traffic.
• Coordinate with other supervisors, trades, or departments to avoid disrupting classes or events.
• Provide hands-on training to new crew members and conduct quality control inspections to ISA standards.
• Maintain PPE inventory and ensure proper wear; coordinate with Facilities Supervisor II for discipline as needed.
