Summary of Position: The Lead Grill Cook is responsible for overseeing food production at our HUBS Burgers and Sandwiches in the Union Market. This position ensures high-quality food items are prepared, grilled, or fried according to standard operating procedures and customer specifications while maintaining high food safety standards in front and back of house.


Essential Functions

1. Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. Regular attendance is required.
2. Perform office function's which may include, but are not limited to: respond to internal/external customers and staff; create and modify documents, records, and reports using College standard software; maintain hard copy and/or electronic filing system; monitor inventory and budget information; schedule, coordinate, and prepare materials for meetings and/or appointments.
3. Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.
4. Student Success is the cornerstone of Western's culture and the college may assign employees as needed to other areas or additional duties to foster this success.
5. Grill Cook - Supporting Action/Task May Include:

  • Prepare food items according to standard operating procedures and customer specifications using a flat top grill, deep fryer and other kitchen equipment.
  • Complete product rotation and prep work for HUBS and other Union Market and Catering menu items.
  • Provide front-line customer service to all customers and guests of the College in a timely and friendly manner.
  • Assist the Union Market Manager with leading, training, and monitoring production of all HUBS staff.
  • Perform Union Market and HUBS opening and closing duties as needed including safe and cash access.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized front and back of house.
  • Work with the Union Market Manager to create new menu items and assist with implantation standards.
  • Support Lunda Center catering events throughout the year based on event schedule.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1 year experience in related field

Required Certification/Licenses:
  • ServSafe Certification within 60 days of employment.

This position reports to: Union Market Manager

Starting annual/hourly salary range based on education and experience: $19.98 $24.11

This position would include competitive salary, along with a wide variety of benefits available to 30-hour a week positions for Western Technical College Employees.
