Job summary

The Tampa Electric Company seeks a Sr Data Scientist - Drone Diagnostics to advance grid reliability and safety through advanced analytics, ML and geospatial data. You will lead data pipelines, model development, and cross-disciplinary collaboration with OT/IT teams to translate complex utility data into actionable insights for asset management and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Data Science, Applied Mathematics or Statistics.
• Master's or PhD preferred in data science, statistics, engineering and/or information systems.
• Graduate work in Machine Learning/AI, predictive modeling, time-series forecasting, power system reliability or risk analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead analytics to monitor grid performance using ML, time series and geospatial methods.
• Develop analytics to support safety, reliability, and resilience goals for the electric grid.
• Lead data pipelines and architectures for large-scale grid data (SCADA, AMI, LiDAR, thermography, weather).
• Coordinate with modeling stakeholders to represent design/expected performance of the grid.
• Support storm operations with multi-year analytics roadmaps for damage estimation and restoration tracking.
• Define and execute the diagnostic center's data strategy and present findings to leadership.
• Mentor teammates and foster innovation and rigor.
