Job summary

BlueStar Resort & Golf is seeking a Lead Golf Instructor to develop and direct our instructional golf programs across BlueStar facilities in Queen Creek. You will mentor golf professionals and apprentices while shaping member experiences and driving program excellence.

The role requires PGA ADM coaching certification, 3–5 years of teaching and program development, and strong marketing and communication skills to grow the club’s golf offerings while maintaining safety standards and exemplary

Qualifications

  • Certification with the PGA of America as a certified ADM coach, or expected certification within 3 months of start date.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Three to five years' related teaching experience and golf program development.
  • PGA membership preferred.
  • Video analysis experience preferred.
  • Current First Aid, CPR/AED certifications as required by the Club.

Benefits
  • New hourly full-time team members working 30 hours or more per week, will be eligible for the Company medical, dental and life insurance plans the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment.

Position Overview

As a member of the Golf Operations Team, the Lead Golf Instructor develops and directs the instructional golf programs for BlueStar Resort & Golf facilities and develops golf professionals and apprentices, striving to model excellence within the golf industry. This position is responsible for developing marketing strategies and creating positive member, community, and media relations—meeting or exceeding established standards for employee and guest satisfaction, sales, and financial performance. This position reports to the Director of Golf.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate the core values and mission of BlueStar Resort & Golf (BSRG) to support the achievement of company goals.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Golf and Vice President of Golf to design instructional programs for all BSRG facilities.
  • Management of a personal care group of allocated golfers responsible for their participation.
  • Identify potential new members or golfers associated with the care group.
  • Maintain a tracking sheet for each community resident of the care group ensuring that each receives at least one personal contact once per quarter.
  • Create a player development program to foster a competitive environment, and provide career guidance for aspiring youth.
  • Represent the Golf Department at Member functions and actively participate in individual play with the golf professionals and at events.
  • Train golf professionals on golf instruction and managing instructional programs to include clinics, juniors, group, and private lessons.
  • Lead by example and take a proactive position to all issues concerning golf instruction, safety, and player development.
  • Maintain open lines of communication between the Golf Shop staff and golf maintenance staff; work with the Golf Shop to facilitate outings and tournaments.
  • Meet regularly with the Director of Golf to discuss their opportunities for growth.
  • Create an opportunity for apprentices to assist in instructional programs to support their professional development.
  • Plan and implement instructional development events; work closely with local schools to bring junior golf ventures to the facility.
  • Creation and management of a new member pipeline and conversion to member.
  • Conduct private lessons and group clinics, offering top-level golf instruction to enhance player skills and show enthusiasm and support to build player confidence and promote exceptional guest loyalty. Execute instructional programs on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Conduct complimentary swing evaluations to identify performance improvement potential, continue to gain customer knowledge and insights.
  • Invite feedback from program participants and track data regarding the program.
  • Maintain a professional, confidential instructor-client relationship and maintain code of ethics.
  • Assess client contraindications that may prevent safe golf play, or modify instruction and customize training based on client’s individual needs and/or physical limitations.
  • Be aware of safety requirements and report unsafe conditions or accidents to supervisor.
  • Know Golf Shop products and Club services and be able to suggest beneficial products and services.
  • Meet with members of the Golf Operations Team to identify innovative marketing strategies and demographic markets to stay ahead of the competition and use branding to market programs to potential clients.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with local and national publications concerning instruction and player development.
  • Work with vendors to support and promote the sale of equipment to program members.
  • Develop an awareness of the social, economic, and political climate surrounding the Club and the golf industry. Model community involvement.
  • Attend seminars regarding player development and instruction, as requested, to keep current with the latest trends, instructional philosophies, and aids.
  • Attend PGA section teaching and coaching summits annually.
  • Responsible for accurately ringing up charges at the register.
  • Proper cash handling procedures.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications / Skills
  • Currently possess a certification with the PGA of America as a certified ADM coach or expected certification within 3 months of start date.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Three to five years' related teaching experience and golf program development.
  • PGA membership preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in all facets of golf management.
  • Experience in marketing a plus.
  • Video analysis experience preferred.
  • Current First Aid, CPR/AED certification, and other safety certifications, as required by the Club.
  • Computer literate with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to write training guides and lead group training sessions.
  • Ability to speak and pay attention to the client's physical movements at the same time; willingness to respond to client's questions or concerns.
  • Ability to explain and promote other Club services to guests.
  • Must have strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with an ability to respond to the needs and requests of staff, members and guests, and the community association.
  • Must demonstrate initiative, with an ability to think, work, solve practical problems, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment.
  • Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards; attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
  • This position requires a flexible schedule to include early mornings, evenings and weekends, as well as occasional travel.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.
Work Environment

This position works in an outdoor environment, with occasional work in an office environment, with routine use of standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copy and fax machines.

  • There will be frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Outdoor environments may require walking while carrying golf clubs or driving a golf cart on variable terrain while navigating typical golf course obstacles, including, but not limited to, water, plants and the natural landscape.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to native wildlife.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position is very active and requires standing and walking for the duration of a shift; swinging and twisting, with repetitive motions; bending and kneeling, and possibly sitting and driving; using hands to fingers, touching and holding, and reaching with hands and arms; regularly required to see, speak clearly and understand the speech of another person. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
