Job summary

BlueStar Resort & Golf seeks a First Tee Host at Trilogy at Verde River, Rio Verde, AZ. You will welcome guests, coordinate play, and provide hospitality while ensuring safety and smooth operations for the golf staff.

You report to the Head Golf Professional and must be customer oriented, with weekend availability and a proactive approach to guest service in an outdoor resort setting.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Enjoy the game of golf and understand guidelines for each group of players to lead to a daily flow for all players.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate positively and effectively with team members and supervisors about job tasks and responsibilities.
  • Self-motivated, follow direction, and able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Must demonstrate initiative, with an ability to think, work, solve practical problems, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment.
  • Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards; attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness is expected.
  • Must be able to pay attention to multiple details and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate guest flow onto the golf course and provide hospitality.
  • Check in with the manager on duty to learn about the day’s activities and course conditions.
  • Set up the welcome area with guest amenities and ensure radios are working.
  • Welcome guests and explain golf cart safety, GPS system, hazards and out-of-play areas.
  • Maintain a friendly and enthusiastic presence by addressing guests by name.
  • Coordinate the flow of players and invite the group to begin play.
  • Keep accurate records for each group: tee time, cart numbers, players’ names.
  • Between groups, maintain cleanliness and restock the amenities table.
  • Communicate with other team members about schedule changes or information to assist players.
  • Know Golf Shop products and Club services and be able to respond to questions.

Trilogy® at Verde River™: Verde River Golf & Social Club

The centerpiece of the community sits adjacent to Tonto National Forest with sweeping views of the Mazatzal Mountains and the iconic Four Peaks. Here you will find a newly re-envisioned golf course, tennis & pickleball courts, poolside bar & grill, luxurious resort pool, and The Outfitter, the starting point for outdoor fun. The Club also features our signature restaurant and full service spa.

Where: Rio Verde, 20 minutes north of Scottsdale, Arizona

Pay: $15.15 per hour

Benefits:

New hourly full-time team members working 30 hours or more per week, will be eligible for the Company medical, dental and life insurance plans the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment.

Full-Time team members are eligible to accrue Paid Time Off (“PTO”) in accordance with the Company policy at a rate of 120 hours per year.

Full-Time team members are eligible for 7 paid holidays annually.

Part-Time team members are eligible to accrue Paid Sick Leave in accordance with state guidelines.

All team members 21 years and older are eligible to participate in the J.F. Shea Co., Inc. 401(k) plan after completion of 30 days of service.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The First Tee Host coordinates the flow of guests onto the golf course and provides hospitality and logistical information for a safe and enjoyable experience for the players. This position reports to the Head Golf Professional.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Communicate the core values and mission of BlueStar Resort & Golf (BSRG) to support the achievement of company goals.
  • Check in with the manager on duty to learn about the day’s activities, events, golf course conditions, and specific information about the course needed by the players.
  • Set up the welcome area with guest amenities. Make sure radio, or other communication device, is in working order.
  • Welcome the guests and provide practical information about safely driving the golf carts, the GPS system, course hazards and out-of-play areas, etc.
  • Maintain a friendly and enthusiastic social presence with introductions and calling guests by name.
  • Coordinate the flow of players onto the golf course. Provide the players with the course rules and invite the group to begin play.
  • Keep accurate records for each group of players, according to Club guidelines. Record the tee time, golf cart numbers, and players’ names.
  • When there is time between groups of players, maintain cleanliness of the area and restock the amenities table.
  • Communicate with the Guest Service Professional, Player Assistants, Golf Shop staff, and other team members throughout the day to learn of any schedule changes or other information to assist in providing a safe and enjoyable experience for the players.
  • Know Golf Shop products and Club services and be able to respond to questions and suggest beneficial products and services.
  • Be aware of safety requirements and report unsafe conditions or accidents to supervisor.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Similar customer service experience preferred.
  • Enjoy the game of golf and have a basic understanding of the importance of guidelines for each group of players to lead to a daily flow for all players.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate positively and effectively with team members and supervisors about job tasks and responsibilities.
  • Desire to contribute to a productive work environment by maintaining a positive attitude with team members and the public.
  • Must be self-motivated, follow direction, and able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Must demonstrate initiative, with an ability to think, work, solve practical problems, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment.
  • Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards; attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness is expected.
  • Must be able to pay attention to multiple details and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
  • This position requires a flexible schedule to include weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position works in an outdoor environment. There is regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasional exposure to native wildlife. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, hear, speak clearly and understand the speech of another person, sometimes in a noisy environment. This position is very active and requires standing and walking for most of a work shift, bending, kneeling, using hands to fingers to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. The position requires the ability to occasionally lift and/or push or pull items weighing up to 20 pounds.Dependable vision is critical to this position, especially close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
