Job summary

Old Waverly Club in West Point, Mississippi, seeks an experienced Golf Course Superintendent to oversee daily maintenance and agronomic operations for one of its two 18-hole courses, Old Waverly or Mossy Oak.

The role demands strong turfgrass knowledge, outstanding communication, and proven leadership to deliver superior playing conditions while managing people, equipment, and budgets in a private club environment.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and leadership skills required.
• Experience with modern agronomic and turfgrass practices.

Responsibilities

• Direct the daily maintenance and agronomic operations of the assigned golf course.
• Plan, schedule, and supervise maintenance activities to achieve playing-condition standards.
• Hire, train, supervise, and develop golf course maintenance staff.
• Effectively schedule and route personnel and equipment to maximize productivity.
• Monitor turf health and adjust agronomic programs as needed.
• Manage irrigation and water management using the Toro Osmac system.
• Oversee fertilizer, pesticide, and other agronomic applications in compliance with regulations.
• Maintain records of weather, applications, and maintenance practices.
• Oversee the Toro equipment fleet and related operations.
• Assist with construction, renovation, and coordination with contractors.
• Develop and manage budgets for maintenance and capital improvements.
• Procure supplies and control operating expenses.
