Job summary

Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club is seeking an up-and-coming Golf Course Superintendent who will manage maintenance, agronomic health, playability, and overall course conditions. You will lead a team, oversee irrigation and chemical applications, and collaborate with Golf Operations to deliver exceptional playing conditions.

The role requires hands-on leadership, data-driven decision-making, and a focus on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within a private club environment.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field preferred.
• California QAC or QAL certification, or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Support the Director of Agronomy in planning, organizing, and directing all golf course maintenance operations.
• Oversee and manage the golf course maintenance team including scheduling, training, performance management, and ensuring alignment with regulations and club policies.
• Oversee agronomic practices, monitor turfgrass health and course conditions, and address issues proactively.
• Collaborate with Golf Operations to support daily play, tournaments, events, and course setup.
• Assist with irrigation management and pesticides/fertilizers in line with regulations and best practices.
• Maintain detailed records of agronomic programs, equipment, and maintenance activities.
• Develop and maintain a high-performing agronomy team with a culture of safety, excellence, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Represent the Agronomy/Greens & Grounds department with hospitality and professionalism to members, staff, and vendors.
• Lead by example, ensure employees understand work to be completed and standards expected.
• Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the Agronomy Department and Club’s objectives.
