Job summary

The City of Carlsbad is seeking a GIS Administrator to lead the enterprise GIS program, set technology strategy, and oversee multi-server geospatial infrastructure. You will guide ArcGIS Enterprise, enterprise geodatabases, and system integrations while collaborating across departments to improve operations and information access.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in geography, planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, natural resources, or computer science with GIS coursework.
• At least five years of progressive experience designing, implementing, and maintaining complex geodatabases.
• Substantial GIS project experience using ESRI GIS software and experience with ESRI SDE and MS SQL Server.
• Programming experience with Visual Basic, C++ and/or C#.
• Advanced ArcGIS skills and familiarity with enterprise IT systems.
• Ability to manage projects and coordinate across city departments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design, development, and implementation of the enterprise GIS.
• Coordinate with departments to plan and implement GIS solutions.
• Maintain the enterprise geodatabase and relational database technologies.
• Manage GIS servers, licenses, ESRI program resources, and annual GIS costs.
• Develop automated GIS workflows using Python and other scripts.
• Provide technical leadership and staff development for the GIS team.
• Stay current with GIS trends through training, conferences, and professional groups.
