Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Lead Geotechnical Engineer to join the Georgia Earth and Environment Team. The candidate will oversee all project phases, delivering complex geotechnical work on time and within budget. Expect strong focus on client relations, reports, and regulatory compliance.

Location preference is Augusta, GA with potential travel to Savannnah or Atlanta. Leadership and clear communication are essential for mentoring staff and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geosciences, or a related field.
• 7-10 years of geotechnical engineering experience with at least 3 in a project management role.
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, site characterization, and lab testing.
• Experience with infrastructure, transportation, or commercial development projects.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical engineering projects from inception to completion.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, consultants, and internal teams.
• Prepare and review geotechnical investigation plans and lab testing programs.
• Oversee field investigations, site assessments, and construction monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulations.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and client presentations.
• Monitor progress, manage risks, and implement corrective actions.
• Mentor and supervise junior staff and project engineers.
• Maintain effective client communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Occasional travel may be required; flexibility for remote work with site travel.
