Job summary

Generator Supercenter, Inc. is the nation's leading provider of home standby generator systems, delivering energy solutions for homes and businesses. We seek an apprentice Electrician to assist and learn all electrical operations, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance of installations.

You will assist the supervising electrician on ATS and generator installations, with opportunities to lead and mentor as the team grows, in a full-time position based in Wheeling, IL.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of professional electrical experience; generator installation experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems.
• Proficient in reading wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Experience with conduit, electrical panels, transfer switches, and backup power systems.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work outdoors in various conditions.
• Safety-minded and detail-oriented with a commitment to code compliance.

Responsibilities

• Review sold job folders and confirm electrical scope aligns with code and Generator Supercenter standards.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems and trace wiring issues during installation and service.
• Support load testing of generator systems and ensure operational compliance.
• Assist in project preparation, including trenching, conduit routing, and setting mechanical components.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints with precision.
• Install electrical equipment including panels, ATS units, wiring, conduit, and controls.
• Utilize electrical testing and measurement tools.
• Promote job site safety, cleanliness, and team collaboration.
• Support and train electrical technicians, as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
