Job summary

SEARHC in Southeast Alaska seeks a physician with an MD or DO and a completed surgical residency to lead and deliver comprehensive surgical care. The candidate will supervise surgical staff and collaborate across OR, ED, and clinic settings to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

The role requires Alaska licensure and board-eligible credentials with ATLS/ACLS as desirable prerequisites. Strong leadership, communication, and team coordination are essential in this multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with accredited general surgery or surgical specialty residency.
• Active Alaska Medical License.
• ATLS and ACLS certifications are desirable and may be mandatory depending on specialty/location.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and surgical practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical care in OR, IP, OP, and ED; evaluations, clinical assessments, and treatment plans.
• Supervise surgical providers; annual evaluations; contribute to delegations/plans.
• Coordinate with the Surgical Services Executive Committee and MSO on policies, procedures and quality tools.
• Serve as consultative liaison to village health care providers and referral physicians throughout Southeast Alaska.
• Participate in medical staff functions, quality assurance reviews and meetings.
