Job summary

LAUKOA, a federal contractor providing facilities maintenance services, seeks a General Maintenance Worker III - Lead in Charleston, SC. You will supervise maintenance staff, coordinate daily tasks, and ensure safe, compliant completion of preventive and corrective work on facilities.

Responsibilities include performing plumbing, carpentry, painting, and minor electrical tasks; reading blueprints and work orders; coordinating material inventories; and enforcing OSHA and contract standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of general building maintenance experience, including 1+ year in a lead role.
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and related trades.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in varied environments.
• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of General Maintenance Workers; assign tasks and monitor performance.
• Perform skilled maintenance: plumbing, carpentry, painting, minor electrical work.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance checks.
• Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and coordinate reordering.
• Interpret work orders and technical manuals to plan repairs and prioritize tasks.
• Ensure staff follow OSHA safety regulations and contract requirements.
• Report progress to the AFOM or Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
• Support emergency repairs and after-hours facility calls when necessary.
