Standard Bots builds US-built industrial robot arms that workers train by demonstration through an AI platform.
The role focuses on owning the safety case for collaborative robots from design through third-party certification. You will test safety functions on real hardware, perform fault injection, and lead a growing safety team while defending the technical argument before assessors.
This role owns the safety case for robot arms that work beside people without cages, from early design through third party certification. A strong candidate has taken collaborative robots or similar machinery through external safety assessment and can defend the technical argument in the room. The work is hands on, testing safety functions on real hardware including fault injection, and building a small safety team.
The robots are taught by demonstration through an AI platform rather than written code, so safety has to hold even when customers with little robot experience set the arms up themselves. AI changes how the machines are taught and how fast products ship, but proving a safety function on real hardware and arguing the case to assessors stays human work. Safety designed in from the first sketch matters more as volume and product count grow.
The role builds judgment about how AI driven teaching and control affect safety functions, tested on hardware rather than in documents. Experience with fault injection and verification of software and firmware safety functions is the practical path in. Knowing where standards end and real safety begins is the core skill to develop.
