Job summary

Capital One in New York, NY is seeking a Senior Full-stack Engineer to drive risk technology initiatives as part of Risk Tech. You’ll lead diverse projects across microservices and full-stack systems, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product managers to deliver cloud-native solutions leveraging Java/Scala/Python/Go/Node.js and AWS tools.

We value hands-on leadership, experience with CI/CD, Git, and observability, and a track record of reducing technical debt while shaping long-term tech

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering).
• At least 4 years of software engineering experience (Internship experience not counted).
• At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) or virtualization technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with experience in distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
• Mentor engineers and participate in internal/external tech communities.
• Collaborate with product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions for users.
• Utilize Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript and various DBs and AWS tools.
• Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and set standards for design and operations.
• Define service boundaries and reusable architectures with architects.
• Refactor to reduce technical debt and improve performance.
• Influence long-term tech strategy in a 'you build it, you own it' environment.
