Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Full-stack Engineer 5 to lead a diverse portfolio of cloud-based, high-impact projects across Enterprise Platforms Technology. You will mentor engineers, shape system architecture, and collaborate with product managers to deliver scalable, reliable solutions using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, and microservices.

You’ll drive end-to-end design for large-scale distributed systems, partner with architects on platform roadmaps, and mentor teams to adopt modern AI-assisted tooling

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field.
• At least 6 years of software engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field is a plus.
• 9+ years of Java coding experience is preferred.
• 5+ years contributing to open source frameworks.
• 5+ years creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs.
• 4+ years with databases and database management systems.
• 4+ years with AWS and CI/CD pipelines.
• 4+ years using Git-based version control.
• 3+ years mentoring senior engineers and driving development.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects across distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
• Mentor engineers and participate in internal/external tech communities.
• Collaborate with product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions for customer empowerment.
• Define platform roadmaps and shared services strategy with architects.
• Drive end-to-end design and implementation of scalable, reliable systems.
