Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive design, development, and delivery of digital solutions for the Client Onboarding & Lifecycle Management portfolio. You will provide hands-on technical leadership, mentor teams, and champion scalable, secure products.

The role requires strong Java/JEE, Spring Boot, microservices, and cloud/DevOps experience in a financial services context, with a focus on performance, security, and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of full-stack Java/JEE development experience.
• Experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Microservices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps.
• Knowledge of Linux, cloud platforms, VMware, networking, and security technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise digital solutions for the CLM portfolio.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to development teams.
• Drive optimization for application, data, and event-store, including logging, monitoring, and security.
• Ensure code quality through architecture reviews, testing, and standards adherence.
• Promote Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud engineering practices to improve delivery.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define solutions and priorities.
• Monitor health, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement.
• Identify and mitigate risks to maintain reliability and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure adherence to governance and security policies.
