Job summary

Henderson Scott is seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer to join its New York engineering team. This is an early-stage opportunity to stay hands-on while shaping product direction and building out the growing team.

You’ll continue shipping software while providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and defining how the team operates as it scales. Visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of full stack software engineering experience.
• Backend services development with Python or similar language.
• Strong API design and integration experience.
• Experience leading projects and mentoring engineers.
• Experience with cloud platforms, ideally GCP.
• Interest in AI-native products and practical AI tooling.
• Product-focused mindset; comfortable in fast-moving environments.

We’re working with a fast-growing software company looking for a Lead Full Stack Engineer to join its New York engineering team.

This is an early-stage opportunity to remain deeply hands-on while helping shape the product, technical direction and development of a growing engineering team.

This is a hands-on player/coach position. You’ll continue building and shipping software while providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers and helping establish how the team operates as it grows.

What you’ll be doing

• Building new product features across frontend, backend and APIs
• Developing Python-based backend services and application logic
• Influencing architecture, engineering standards and technical direction
• Mentoring junior engineers through pairing, guidance and code reviews
• Working closely with product and design to take ideas from concept to production
• Helping interview, hire and develop the New York engineering team

What they’re looking for

• Seven or more years of full stack software engineering experience
• Experience developing backend services using Python or a similar language
• A track record of owning and delivering complex product features
• Experience leading projects and mentoring other engineers
• Strong API design and integration experience
• Experience with cloud platforms, ideally GCP
• An interest in AI-native products and practical experience using AI development tools
• A product-focused mindset and comfort working in a fast-moving environment

Formal management experience isn’t essential, you could be an experienced Senior, Staff or Lead Engineer who enjoys remaining hands-on while helping others develop.
