Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. in Melbourne, FL (Patrick Space Force Base) seeks a Lead Software/Front-End Engineer to drive front-end modernization and system integration.

You will provide technical leadership across software and infrastructure teams and work onsite at the base. This role follows a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off, and requires modern front-end development, JavaScript/TypeScript, AWS, Docker, Linux, CI/CD, and AI-assisted development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering with 9+ years of relevant experience; or graduate degree with 7+ years.
• Active TS clearance with the ability to obtain SCI.
• Security+ certification or DoD IAT Level II within 6 months of start date.
• Willingness to work onsite at Patrick Space Force Base in Melbourne, FL.

Responsibilities

• Build modern, responsive front-end solutions using current web frameworks and best practices.
• Apply software engineering best practices across the full development lifecycle, including code reviews, automated testing, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Deploy and maintain applications in AWS, ensuring scalability, security, resilience, and cost-effectiveness.
• Support containerized deployments using Docker and, where applicable, Kubernetes.
• Engage with customers daily to refine requirements and improve application functionality.
• Prepare and brief technical designs, implementation plans, roadmaps, and documentation.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation for system design, application architecture, deployment procedures, and sustainment activities.
• Familiarity with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, DynamoDB, or other relational/non-relational data stores.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
• Security clearance considerations and compliance with DoD environment requirements.
