Job Description:
Description of the Position:
- Responsible for providing direction to Forklift Operators, training, assigning work, and resolving problems within area of responsibility.
- Operates gasoline-, liquefied gas-, or electric-powered industrial equipment with lifting devices, such as sit-down, stand-up, clamp, or other elevating equipment to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials from rail cars in distribution center or storage yard.
- Supports and trains newly hired forklift operators within their area of responsibility.
Responsibilities:
- Assist supervisors and management in planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Load, unload, move, stock, and stage products and materials using powered industrial equipment. Maintain equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion. Inspect assigned equipment daily. Operate all equipment safely and efficiently following prescribed work methods and OSHA standards.
- Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations. Stack and store products appropriately.
- Pull and prepare products for shipment, ensuring accuracy of load quantities and types.
- Move products from staging and storage into rail cars, trailers, or containers. Ensure shipments are accurate and damage-free. Report quality variances.
- Inventory materials and supply workers with materials as needed.
- Follow customer requirements and instructions to ensure accuracy and safety during loading/unloading.
- Coordinate with other departments such as Customer Service, Transportation, and Maintenance.
- Maintain good housekeeping and report unsafe conditions.
- Follow safety rules and report non-compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Pay:
$24.50
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED, with one or more years of related experience or training, or equivalent.
- Forklift experience specific to rail operations.
- Ability to complete post-hire assessments and obtain necessary certifications (OSHA, company, etc.).
- Ability to wear PPE such as footwear, eyewear, gloves, etc., in accordance with safety policies.
