Job summary

Vast in Long Beach is seeking a Senior Manager of Fluid Systems Design to lead the design of propulsion, TCS and ECLSS for Haven module development. You will oversee a multidisciplinary team, set design practices, and drive cross-functional collaboration for vehicle integration.

The role requires extensive experience in fluid system design, leadership, and experience with flight hardware. This is a full-time exempt position based in Long Beach, CA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or other technical discipline.
• 8+ years of system design with component-level design authority on flight hardware, preferably propulsion, thermal or ECLSS.
• 2+ years leading a technical engineering team.
• Experience with fluid system design including pressure vessels, tubing routings, seals, valves, fans, filters, and ducting.

Responsibilities

• Lead design team translating architecture choices for propulsion, TCS and ECLSS into vehicle packaging.
• Own component-level design practices for propulsion, TCS and ECLSS.
• Develop process tools to streamline design activities and empower engineers.
• Lead cross-functional engineers across fluid systems, structures, and operations.
• Interface with structures design for vehicle integration and standard practices.
• Collaborate with the fluid systems analysis team on requirements for design validation.
• Partner with the fluid system test team to design ground support equipment and test stands.
• Build and mentor a team of design engineers with clear ownership.
• Drive communication across fluid systems, structures, and operations to resolve challenges.
