Job description

  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm.
Frito-Lay Lead Fleet Technicians are essential to our team because they work on our fleet vehicles and keep our drivers safe. You may already be familiar with what this position entails. You will help us maintain and repair our vehicles, diagnose mechanical issues, manage parts inventory, and charge parts and labor to work orders. We asked our Lead Fleet Technicians what else we should let you know about working here, and this is what the team had to say about frequent tasks you can expect to perform:

* You will prioritize, schedule, and assign repair and inspection work according to business objectives (safety, service, cost, and preventative maintenance).
* You will provide coaching to other technicians on performance/technical skills for development.
* You will be responsible for supporting our Garage Team in maintaining accurate computer records of time and parts used on specific work orders.
* Maintain a proactive and safe working environment to protect oneself and others in accordance with all department guidelines and all applicable company safety rules.
* Schedule and assign developmental and safety trainings for Fleet Technicians in shop.
* Lead local fleet agenda to assist with OTR garage assessments and storeroom inventories.
* Maintain National Parts Supplier Utilization and proactive partnership with Parts Team.
* Lead local fleet development agenda to enhance OTR Fleet Technicians’ technical competencies.
* Assist in developing transportation maintenance and repair procedures.
* Maintain and demonstrate commitment to staying current within Fleet Reliability field.
* Build relationships with local vendors to balance outside service vendor costs for parts and labor.
* Effectively communicate with customers and co-workers by providing accurate, meaningful, courteous, and timely responses to their questions or concerns.
* Occasional overnight travel to attend required trainings/conferences as needed.
* Annual tool allowance provided.

This is an experienced position that requires a CDL. Here are our minimum requirements for you to consider prior to filling out our application:
* You are at least 21 years of age or older
* You may be required to work on weekends, holidays as well as off shift
* You have a valid CDL
* You can lift 50 pounds or more with or without a reasonable accommodation
* You are able to climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and stretch for extended periods with or without a reasonable accommodation
* You have the ability to work in tight spaces for extended periods with or without a reasonable accommodation
* You will be required to work on/under trucks for an entire shift (8 to 12 hours) with or without a reasonable accommodation

While the minimum qualifications are all you need to apply, top candidates will also have:

* 5 years of previous mechanical experience with Class 8 Commercial Tractors and Trailers
* Previous experience with welding as well as performing Preventative Maintenance on heavy duty equipment
* Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot repairs using diagnostic systems
