Job summary

The City of Olympia seeks a Master Mechanic to diagnose malfunctions, repair diesel and gasoline engines, and service a fleet of light- and heavy-duty equipment. You will generate maintenance records and work orders, including responding to emergency calls, while working at the city shop.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in heavy equipment repair, ASE Master certifications, and a valid WA CDL within six months.

Qualifications

• Three years journey-level experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty equipment.
• Master Medium/Heavy/Truck ASE Certification or Master Automobile Technician ASE Certification is required.
• A valid Washington State Driver's License and Class A Commercial Driver's License must be obtained within 6 months of appointment.
• Mechanics must furnish their own tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on City-owned light-duty and heavy equipment.
• Diagnose malfunctions and repair diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, drive trains, suspensions, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, repairs and overhauls on diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment.
• Generate and maintain maintenance records and work orders; respond to emergencies as needed.
• Maintain punctual and reliable attendance.
