Lead Fleet Maintenance Operator (Convent, LA)

American Commercial Barge Line

Description

Summary:

Responsible for maintaining the safety and integrity of the fleet, infrastructure, and equipment moored in the fleet. Oversees inspections and repair for all moorings and spar barges.

Essential Duties/Functions:

  • Coordinate and assign inspection of all moorings and barges for damage, water, cargo spillage or the purpose of repairing barges.
  • Safely operate work boat and apply Rules of the Road navigation.
  • Communicate and gather information from vessels and logistics on barges in/out of fleet to determine services/barges to be repaired.
  • Monitor barge drafts in fleet.
  • Maintain fleet and vessel inspection logs.
  • Inspect and maintain all equipment, PPE/safety equipment, and deck supplies.
  • Inspect barges for loading/unloading and prep accordingly.
  • Safely operate equipment such as vessels, forklifts, Bobcats, dozers, and back/track hoes.
  • Inspect Fleet and record discrepancies and notify stakeholders.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

Years of Experience:

5+ Years of marine industry experience related to fleet operations is preferred.

Demands:

  • Ability to acquire a Shipyard Competent Person Training Certificate is preferred.
  • Must be able to work a rotating schedule and occasional overtime.
  • Must be available for On-Call support.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to acquire a valid TWIC.
  • Ability to obtain FCC Restricted Radio License is desired.
